Thread: Polo GTI APR ECU Upgrade

Already requested the day off work so will definitely be there. Loving what I see in the latest photos on the Facebook page. Going to be hard to resist the urge to get it modified as soon as I get the car.

We have some mono tube dampers / springs, camber mods - all will be installed next week, along with Alcons & OZ Racing wheels.

Prototype exhaust finished today, off to the signwriters tonight, air intake prototyping & dyno testing stage 2 is Monday.

Poor car now has 800km's on it!
That all sounds like modification goodness to me and I guess I'd better start saving my pennies!

Any further word on when Stage1 will be available and details up on the website? Any further updates on the other Stage2 mods and how they're progressing? You know you've got people (well at least one) checking the APR site at least once a day to see if there are updates?

Make that two. Picked up my 5 door Polo GTI yesterday. It's great. After it's been APR'ed it will be amazing. Excellent bang for buck.

Had the Qantas valet parking mistake it for a Golf this morning

4 hours on the dyno this morning with Stage 2 - new suspension in last night & just finished the new wheels / clearance / alignment just now. We have learn't a huge amount about this car & the engine in the past 4 weeks & made considerable, repeatable gains - its an awesome beast now!

    Check out the new pictures:

    Thanks for the update Guy,
All those mods look really, really expensive dude...but awesome!
When will the prices be up on the web site? Hopefully, I can afford at least a Stage 1 ECU upgrade?
Will you post a review with all that you have done?
2011 POLO GTI 3dr, Candy White, Audio-Comfort-Xenon Packs
MODS: H&R Sport Springs - Bilstein B12s - Whiteline Sway Bar - Milltek Cat Back Exhaust - Sparco Assetto Gara Wheels

    Won't be long Joe.

Expensive? depends on what outcome you are after, we have built lots of cars now & spent money in different ways, our budget was set for this build before we even took delivery - good thing is, all the mods & gains made in different area's will pass down to the average customer, so you can do it step by step & have a multi tiered upgrade path!

Did you check out the weight savings on the front brake assembly?

Yeah, the brake weight saving is impressive! Less than HALF the weight and a HUGE increase in brake size, plus 4(?) piston calipers.
Out of interest Guy, what is the weight saving for the Golf R stock > Alcon upgrade?

    looking good!
Thats some nice torque down near 2500 rpm, i'll be interested to see what the basic tune alone produces.

Golf R 355mm mono 4 Alcon kit is just over 16kg's lighter than stock R brakes (over 8kg's per side!)

yeah, it's got great power characteristics. A lot of those dyno runs were stock / stage 1, then exhaust, intercooler & airbox separately. each added differently to the power.
