Guy, aside from price, I guess the most pressing question is if this DSG tune can be installed into vehicles without an APR engine tune?

Stage 2+ Intercooler Carbon Intake Downpipe Swaybar DV+ Remsa.
And can you turn the tune on/off similar to the engine tune?
A simple before/after video would be ace as well.
I have 2 questions:
Why would one need to reload their APR?
And will the DSG upgrade "re-seat the solenoids" as VWs latest update does?
All details in the next couple of days.
Gavs Yes, DSG Flash can go with any engine software (The DSG software is not an APR product) what engine software are you running? We have only tested it with APR engine software.
Pricing, on the 7 speed with the 3 main options for most people - $995-00 installed - there are some extra cost options we have that not everyone will require.
Ryan, can't turn it on & off.
Banana, I think What VW are doing, we have a better way to "preserve clutch life" and enhance driveability.
@Banana
VW updated ECU software when diagnosing faulty clutch pack components. I have to say I've had next to no shuddering since then (4 weeks ago), even if driving quickly.
@Guy, any chance the benefits of this newer VW software being undone by going back to APR Stage 1? Does stage one replace the whole ECU software with it's own operating system (so to speak) or does it just overwrite a few values within the official ECU software?
hey guy,
what sort of features can we expect from the dsg flash?
cheers,
josh

OK,
We should have all details up on the website with a week, and the other transmissions listed in the sponsors forum later today.
Details on the DQ200 software programming:
Harding Performance DSG Software & Hardware program.
DQ 200 (7 speed dry clutch – Golf TSI, Polo, Skoda 118 etc)
Performance Software:
Standard recommended upgrade pack: Recommended retail $995-00
- Custom D and S programs
- 1st gear Re-activation
- Less unwanted downshift on light acceleration
All new 7-speed DSG’s with dry clutch have software “compromises”. They shift overly early, and do not make great use of 1st gear. This causes annoying vibrations when the DSG shifts from 1st to 2nd gear, slow reaction on the throttle from low rpm and low speeds, possible damage to transmission & excessive wear on the dual mass flywheel & clutch packs.
Surveyed customers tend not to use “S” mode as it holds the gear far too long for regular city driving, and find “D” mode too lazy.
Our new software solves this problem.
In D Mode we give you much better drivability, and the S mode becomes much more useful. When driving in D, most 1.4TSI’s shift over to 7th gear at 58km/h, we set this to 78km/h. This means the car will not drive at the super low 1150rpm anymore. The engine will stay above 1400rpm. No noticeable change in fuel consumption.
1st gear reactivation, the 7 speed DSG’s do not use 1st gear any longer, only when taking off from a complete standstill. This causes abnormal wear & shuddering in the clutch packs (particularly the 1st to 2nd gear change). When driving below 17km/h the throttle response is poor as the gear is too high & RPM too low. Our software uses first gear for speeds up to 17kmph.
Other options: (add more than one option and the price becomes $199 per option)
- Torque limiter delete $299-00
- Torque capacity threshold upgrade up to 350Nm $299-00
- Max. shifting RPM $299-00
- Raised downshift rpm $299-00
Our standard package is recommended for most "enthusiasts", the other "options" are really for someone who is pushing the limits or who have a custom request.
If you have a race specific application or big turbo application, then tied with in with different engine remapping, we should have a transmission solution for you.
When in manual mode I tend to use 5th gear for 60-70, 6th for 80-90, and 7th for 100 - 110 unless conditions are favourable for puttering around at low RPM. S mode as is is still good for spirited country drives if lazy and particularly good for overtaking in minimal time, so hopefully your changes to S don't impact on that too negatively.
Can you explain those other options more as I'm personally struggling to see the point of at least the first 3 options since max torque is 319nm on my car according to VCDS and the current red-line RPM seems fine, and surely those who want to go even faster own a Golf GTI or R. Raised downshift might be nice, but between DSG paddles and enhanced kickdown sensitivity thanks to SprintBooster I might be ok to pass on that as well.
Hope to see video footage of a car with this software installed soon.
Thanks
