"Bore wash" is pretty much a side effect of FSI's component protection - It dumps fuel in to cool components down & maintain the super important EGT's - most important for component life.
I have not striped down a 1.4 tsi personally yet, but have dismantled some FSI motors - I can't see any difference happening on a twincharger personally.
I suppose if you ran them lean, got rid of component protection, then you would eliminate some of the "wash" but I think the oil consuption issue is more related to initial ring seating than anything else.
Someone needs to get an engineer to diagnose it (ACL have engineers for this sort of stuff on staff), but I don't think VW would ever publish any results.
Ok cool. I'll go around and see Rod.

Thanks Guy so it's basically the generic auto maker engine cooling backup by overfuelling. I agree it's a run-in issue, not software. I thought it sounded a bit too much like a "tug" theory

Just to confirm, you guys don't remove the bore wash feature though do you? This is what the tech guys supposedly said at Revo...:
Followed by this:Nice. Revo were telling me that most of the oil consumption issues are caused by the stock map and plugs creating the misfires, causing bore wash. Which results in the oil blowing by the rings.
When the misfire occurs, it causes over fuelling. Which creates the bore wash, effectively, stripping the glaze from the cylinder liners and causing oil to blow by the piston rings/scrapers. This then gets combusted.
Revo are stating that they can iron out the misfires with their software. As well as a plug change, which improves things greatly.

lol, If my car was misfiring from factory, would I take it to a tuner for a remap,
OR
Would I get VW to fix the misfiring?
Gav's - you read too much on the internet I'm afraid, that's so silly its not even funny.
If you wash your car with mineral water, will that make it faster? I read that on a forum somewhere too.
Don't worry Guy, I was laughing so hard when I read that bit a bit of wee came out!
Your last comment reminds me of an old Holden ad for the Statesman international where the guy was using mineral water to wash the car. What do they say about polishing a turd....
Ok, we can get back on topic now How far away is the 'cooler etc, or is it part of a bundle kit?

Good news is we have the pieces for the intakes here, so pics in the next day or two - shipping out next week.
Intercoolers about 3 - 4 weeks away, we have sourced a core profile so we don't have to modify the bumper reinforcement.
Have not started production jigging of the exhaust just yet.
Oh, switched gearboxes on our development Polo today (Plate differential one), and the bigger "hybrid" turbo arrives tomorrow
