    Pod filters and K-jet

Hey people, Has anyone fitted a pod filter to their Kjet car? I'm thinking of making up a lower airbox section out of sheet aluminium and having it funel down into the shape of a pipe allowing me to fit a pod filter.
    Has it been done?
    How succesfully?
    Suggestions?
    Cheers Carl.

Here's a very basic idea of what I'd like to do, ofcourse I'd make a bit more room for the metering arm to move within thew box and maybe have a shroud around the pod itself, well the engine bay side.

    Suggestions?

would be good if you could. My mate just put a pod filter on his mx5, which sound like poo as standard, sounds so much better it's not funny. I can only imagine how good mine would sound with a pod and a power rhor (SS induction pipe).

I thought I'd seen them before as there were fitted as standard to Volvo 240T & a standard bosch part.
There sometimes on ebay too from these seller's

    greggearhead Ebay I.D.

    This would also suit Mk2.

id say u will prob get more perfomace out of a drilled box with a k&n filter...an mx5 loves the pod they gain like 10-15 hp just for a filter.. th pod would look pretty cool though

I done that with mine & it look's like swiss cheese!
The only probably is that you tend to get to much hot air from the engine compartment. The pod filter is a good idea, but on a Mk1 you still get the warm air off the radiator!
Before I drilled the crap out of my airbox, I tried a duct from in front of the radiator which worked O.K. but the down side is you still need a large duct to make it work & you can only fit so much in front of the radiator & around the battery. If you relocated the battery & made a duct from the headlight into the airbox, I reckon you'd see the difference.

A Mk2 will be diiferent as they can grab air from behind the headlight & spotlight area, not the radiator.

Stroeve Motorsport have been making one for ages - you could quite easily copy the design with some alloy and a welder The filter connects to a pipe which is welded to a hole through the plate.

ive got a mk2 k-jet set up and my fuel dizzy is on the right side of the car (drivers) and it gets cold air ok in that spot.. its a really tight fit, i have to take the airbox out to disconect my headlight. all k- jet setups ive seen have the dizzy on the left side, can any1 tell me why mine is the other way around, is it cause its a mk2 engine. just like to know..
