I have been the proud and happy owner of a GIAC extreme kit (K04) A3 quattro for the past 3 years. 196kw ATW when first installed so not bad for an A3 !
But I am getting old (lol) and a bit over the whooshing and swooshing of the VF intake with exposed K+N filter. But as you may know, the VF intake and the GIAC extreme kits uses a larger bore pipe work into the turbo and what I want to do it possible replace the exposed K+N filter with a closed (quieter) filter system but I therefore need one that will support the 3" intake pipe work. BMC CDA, APR Carbonio all seem a bit too small to hook up to to the 3" pipe work... sure you can get an adaptor made but I would want to try and still take full advantage of the larger bore intake so are there any closed filter boxes / systems with a 3" approx sizing on the intake side ?
Anyone have any suggestions on my options.
Thanks.

We have this in testing at the moment. First prototype was fitted up to a Golf R a couple weeks ago.
It uses the BCS Automotive carbon intake as a basis with a 3" MAF housing that we have designed/fabricated in house. A fair bit quieter than the VF unit although still not OEM quiet. The final product will be powder coated and a bit less agricultural looking but gives you an idea.
You could just modify your VF intake with a different filtration system which would quieten it down a lot.
