Which car is it from so I can start looking?
Gents and Ladies,
Appreciate if anyone can offer help on this. Car has been at the mechanic for the past 5 weeks with no end in sight.
ECU had water damaged and some corrosion got on to the pins on the connectors as well. Mechanic managed to track down a second hand ECU with the same part number as the original and swapped the EPROM across to the replacement piece. He then did a cut and shut job on the connectors but the car still does not start properly (or at all), he has asked me to see if i can find the pin diagram of the ECU online. I have searched and with no luck so turn to this forum for assistance.
ECU Model
I am chasing for a digram that tells me what each of these pins are for..
Thanks in advance
Mike

Thanks Alan.
It's for a 2005 MK5 2.0 FSI.

This is de ja vu for me .
You can forget about the wiring diagram because most of the time ecu coulours dont match . I had to trace the wires from pin locations to connectors and made sure everything worked that way .
Also putting in an ecu wont work as they have VIN encrypted in them . I ended up buying a new ecu and fixing the wiring in the car I had here . 165 or so wires to go through and 6+ months !

No joy here I'm afraid I don't have pin outs for anything more recent than MK4.

Thanks for the reply Bug_racer..... i have heard of the VIN encryption you just mentioned and the mechanic says the swapping of the EPROM from the original ECU to the donor replacement would resolve this matter.
As you can appreciate I am not mechanically inclined on these aspects.
How much did the ECU (assumed its new) end up costing you and what VW model was it for?
Thanks,
Mike
That wont work . Parso can tell you all about how much a PITA these ecu's are .
ECU cost around $1300 . Its the 12 hours labour I charged that bumped the price up . I worked on the car casually as well since when I got it it had already been to 2 other places and wasnt running for 8 months anyway .
