Need an ECU for MK5 2.0 FSI engine

    Guys,

My golf 2.0 FSI has been in the workshop for 2 weeks now and the mechanic is still hunting for a secondhand ECU. ECU had water damage and repair only lasted 20 minutes upon engine start up. Not sure if this is the right place to post but would appreciate if anyone has leads to track down a suitable ECU or alternative solution.

    Thanks,
    Mike

You need to get one with the same part number as the original. If you don't, it will be a world of hurt making it run again. It'll still be painful.

If you can't get the "mind" of the old one, flashed into the replacement. You'll have no option except going to VW.

If VW becomes the option, they will need to hook up their diagnostics to the car and make it work. I am not aware of any way to get around the factory immobiliser. The car will have to be at the dealers to do this.

Getting an ECU from the UK will be significantly cheaper, but you'll then have no warranty on it here.

    Cheers

    Gavin
