My dump pipe and stage 2 Bluefin

    Hi all,

I have finally got around to having my custom dump pipe made by Mr Muffler at Sumner Park and fitted to my Mk5 gti allowing me combine it with the intake I already had and step up to stage 2 Bluefin

I went for just the 3"dump and left the cat back standard as my wife also drives the car and she wanted the noise to stay at a "reasonable level" :face palm: I also chose a 200 cel cat to keep the mods as legal as I could. The result is fantastic! I love the way it has transformed my girly DSG OEM fart into an aftermarket man fart. With the dump fitted it has changed the intake to more of a crisp sound and you can feel things are so much more free flowing.

Now to the tune, as usual the purchase and download of the Bluefin tune was so simple and quick. The best part is it only cost me $55AU to upgrade from my stage 1. It took about a 15 minute drive of the car feeling almost no different until boom! the tune had kicked in OMG how much of a change it made, I had the usual new tune giggles. I only weeks ago purchased the KU36's to fix my stage 1 traction issues and now they spin more than the old tyres

These are some pics of the dump.

Can I ask you how much a custom made dump pipe is worth today?

He charged me $690. Wasn't the cheapest but was very willing to modify it if I wasn't happy with the sound. Which by the was is perfect as it doesn't make hardly any more noise unless your getting up it.

I went stage 2 with bluefin not long ago myself. I'd read in forums that it's quite common to get fuel cuts when going stage 2. I thought I was ok until I tried flooring it from low rpm in 4th and 5th. And there they were! You might want to try that yourself .
I added the APR HPFP which sorts that out, along with a little more extra squirt in the mid range. Also makes it feel a little smoother in the way the power comes on.

Have any of you with the Stage 2 Bluefin tune done a dyno?

I've just done mine today and was a little disappointed with 156kw. Expected more since I've read some people achieving 147kw with only Stage 1.

As most of us have experienced in the past, there are so many contributing factors with dyno results. You could go to a different dyno the next day and gain or loose 15kwatw. Don't stress!

just ask yourself if your happy with the way the car performs now?

That looks like great work on the dump pipe! That's the same place that did the exhaust on Jo's 200SX isn't it? You're a bad influence on me Brendon!

Bluefin is cheaper than both Giac and Revo - although generally is a slightly milder level of tune that the American ones. In saying that, my Golf R made 186kw on Friday with Stage 1 Bluefin and VW Racing intake.

Nice Lucas the Golf R stock how much kw's is that? still little confused as i was reading on there website that its just plug and play and there's no need to take the ecu out. But by my knowledge all those other branded tunes like revo, giac and APR require you to take your car to a dealership to get it down and they have to take the ecu tune out.
