    MK7 Golf GTI/R Tuning Results

    Hey all,

Just been browsing the net for any indication of potential tuning results for the new MK7 GTI/R.

Came across this from ABT. I thought it may be of interest to some!

We can see there's a fair bit of interest in a tune for the VW Golf VII GTI, so wanted to let you all know that we already offer a tune due to our unbeatable ties to Volkswagen Germany.

    VW Golf VII GTI Tune:
    STD - 169 kW (230 HP), 350 Nm
    ABT - 221 kW (300 HP), 420 Nm

Our tune for the Golf VII R may be of interest too...

    VW Golf VII R Tune:
    STD - 221 kW (300 HP), 380 Nm
    ABT - 272 kW (370 HP), 460 Nm

Naturally we offer tunes for earlier models too! See our website for more info.
Looks very promising, especially for R owners! 370BHP! DAMN!

Can't wait to see what APR, Veizu, etc etc come out with!

I have read on APR facebook page that stage 1 tune will be over 300hp for GTI. No official numbers yet as still completing the tunes. 60+KW increase on stage 1 tunes is mighty impressive!

I'd be very surprised if anyone got that level of power from a stage 1 tune on the GTI.
The Tiguan jumped 64kw with a tune but it ran a heavily detuned gti engine from the factory.

Stage 1 tune + CAI will likely see close to 300HP.

That doesn't seem to bad to me!

Totally agree hooti! That's the way I'll go with my car in couple of years. Don't want to risk warranty too early.
MTM have similiar results on their site. Comparing the dyno graphs of the mk7 to MK6 it's massive improvement in power and torque delivery.

I won't be too surprised Clay, MK7 runs a totally reworked 2.0TSI compared to the MK6 GTI and the Tiguans .... I'm calling it probable ....

If the Mk7 behaves anything like the Mk6 you'll be wanting tune and a bigger downpipe fitted - that's where the gains will be had. The CAI is marginal at best.

Having said that I do see some early claims from a few different tuning houses suggesting 300hp is achievable without major work.

We'll see.. should be some interesting developments.

So does that mean you're now considering options for tune + DP?

Sheez, how many threads are you going to chase and harass me on this issue? No mods.

Although 300 horses does intrigue me.

FWIW here's a link to someone who has already done some tuning work on the Mk7, although they're utilising some more significant hardware upgrades as well to get to the 300hp figure: HG Motorsport tunes the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk7 - PerformanceDrive

And you guys think that the GTI will pick up 60kW with just a tune so many times in the past the claims have been out there only to proven wrong or wildly fictitious time and time again on both dyno and dragstrip. Bascially take everything out of Europe with a bucket of salt.

If this were possible then it would be a major design flaw in the cars choice/design of the turbo charger to suit the stock application, it would mean that in every instance the turbo would be a lot laggier that it could otherwise have been.
Still I"ll gladly take a 60kW unicorn figure if it ever came to be.
