Mk7 Golf GTI 2016 stage 1 option, help needed!

    Hi Everyone,

I've ordered my Golf GTI MK7 2016 in manual recently and will be coming in a few months. I'm trying to do my research on a stage 1 tune but don't know where to start and know little to nothing about this side of cars. If someone can help answer my questions then that would be unreal!

    1) What stage 1 tune options available in Melbourne, Australia? Ex. Reputable companies
    2) The best suited one for manual?
    3) The best tune for later stages if I choose to do more? I would prefer to stick would one great company to allow for upgrades to be easier.

I'm a compete amateur and all I know about is APR as Google search helped me with that but I have no idea about other companies and options.

I've also been told that APR is really pricey compared to most and not as high quality (right or wrong, just what I've read). And at the same time I want to support local but do need to have a support system (warranty) if something does go wrong.

Thank you for whoever takes the time reading this and helping me about.

    Cheers,

    Michael.

You want warranty on the Tune, how about VW warranty? How much do you value that? Eg JB1 will be safer for maintaining VW Warranty compared to a flash tune, although some claim that a flash removed cannot be detected as well.

If warranty is any kind of concern, then a plug in box is your only option. Or leave it until the warranty is up.

Manual R owner, and i went with APR in the south east suburbs, Simon from Peerless Automotive is my go to guy!

ps: 20,000ks of hard driving since day 1, and my clutch was gone. Now running a serious clutch kit setup.

I have a 3 year VW warranty. I also have a mate that is a VW mechanic so he can always look after me.

What part of the South East suburbs? I've read heaps that the clutch goes after getting APR stage 1. The improvements on it do look great but would obviously need a new clutch eventually.

I would prefer a flashed tune, just don't know what companies are out there besides APR

Has anyone had any experiences with revo stage 1? I'm trying to find out how the power is delivered through the rev range with revo and Apr. I know power incenses are all very similar.
