I have a Viezu v-switch that was used on my 6R. Stage 1 and happy to recommend it. Lots of options though and no doubt others will chip in (lol).
Hi Guys
I picked up an ex demo Golf R a couple of months ago after having a nightmare with an R32 which i bought from a VW dealer. Had numerous issues which resulted in them taking it back 3 months later and swapping for the Golf R.
Anyhow, loving the new car. It's DSG and i'm looking to get it tuned. Preferably something that is reversible in case of warranty issues.
The research i've done suggests that most Stage 1 tunes offer the same kind of performance increase. Not sure at this stage if i will delve deeper into Stage2/3 so i'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent tune from a trustworthy dealer that's well priced (Trust being the key word after my horrific dealings in the past). I'm based in Sydney (Inner West)
And for those that have tuned their Golf R's, are there any issues that may arise from having a stage 1 tune?
If i go for Stage 2 or 3 is it possible to reverse those in case of warranty issues?
Cheers in advance

I paid $1k. It plugs in over the obd port and takes a read of the ecu and provided two boost settings, it's sitting in my wardrobe and I'd be happy to let you have it for a couple of hundred. It also does an update of the dsg sport and normal settings. Normal is beefed up and sport is softer. I really liked it. You could try it first and see if you like it. Let me know if it's any interest. I'd check that Viezu would provide you full support first though.
I have not heard of many complaints about APR gear and that price seems a lot less than it used to be. I have heard a few bitches about the APR personnel, for what it is worth. There are plenty of tuning topics in this forum you can read up on. I'd push a bit harder on the price; they can't be selling so many these days.
Good luck
Don't want to get in the way of helping out a fellow R owner, however aren't the vSwitches locked to the specific car? ie: after first use (and downloading the stock map), I don't think you can swap cars without a reset of the unit (via Viezu or the OEM of the loader itself). The stage 1 maps (vRace or vTrack) are specifically locked to the car which the base / stock map came from. Definitely would be best to check with Viezu directly.

You will want to search / read through the Tuning and Performance section for plenty of information on the many tunes available.

Cantgiveyouthat - i will have a think about it mate, thanks for the offer. Will get in touch with the company and see if i will get support and what needs to be done.
Is there anyone in Sydney with an R tune that would be willing to let me come for a spin to see how it feels? From the research i've done, the GIAC tunes seem to be one of the more aggressive options which appeals to me - anyone have any comments on this?
