Thread: MK1 gearbox coversion

    From what I can remember the plate is made from two pieces and the top piece is welded about 2mm closer to the end.

    (This is from memory as I was playing around with this stuff 15 years ago when we had to work it out for ourselves.)

    There is more than 2mm of slop in most Golf shifters so its largely academic

    Maybe that's the problem, we were using new parts and trying to do it properly.

    Got myself a box from Golfloon. Ill let you know how the conversion went. Ill post some pics for people who are interested in the conversion and know little about it (like me).

    dont worry about hte baseplate.

    if you take out the part of your linkage that attaches to the rod via the clamt and cut/weld it to be about an inch longer, you'll get more throw with your sideways movement att the stick, making the whole thing closer and frankly nicer to operate.
