    MAF - Wires = Fail.

Put in the short shifter the other day, then today I put in the side to side reduction and re-mounted the fire extinguisher (after the sub took it's place in the boot).

Went for a test drive and after hitting a corner a little hard the car started to cut out. Came home and run a scan and ended up with this:

    Code:
    Address 01: Engine
       Controller: 021 906 256
       Component: MOTRONIC M3.8.1 HS V02
       Coding: 00000
       Shop #: WSC 01315
    5 Faults Found:
01247 - Activated Charcoal Filter (EVAP) System Solenoid Valve 1 (N80)
                37-10 - Faulty - Intermittent
    00561 - Mixture Adaptation
14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded
    00522 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62)
                27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
    00533 - Idle Speed Regulation
15-10 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Not Reached - Intermittent
    00553 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
                28-10 - Short to B+ - Intermittent
    Readiness: N/A
I immediately thought of the wires that have been deteriorating for a while now, so checked and one of the wires is completely severed.

    Not long ago:

Will wire in the new plug tomorrow and clear the codes and see what happens. I would suggest most of those codes are because the MAF sensor wasn't reporting right and it was stalling. Pretty confident that is all the issue is since I have never seen any of those codes before. Although it's yet to be proved, but it's amazing how many "other" faults are caused by a faulty MAF (plug).

    Always fun.

Just goes to show mate hey , many times in workshops there is wasted time checking all the faults individually and it really only 1 or maybe 2 of the 5 thats relevant. Nice one mate. It only takes one thing to upset the apple cart.
Scanning is great but being able to read whats going on is another

I have jammed (not that you really can jam it in) it into the hole where it goes and I believe it happens when you accelerate enough for it to come undone.

It's not a case of under XXrpm it fails, just fails in general.

Well I have wired in the new plug as well as a replacement plug for one of the wheel speed sensors.

ABS still reports that the pump is rubbish, but at least the wheel speed sensor works now

Cleared the codes and everything is running fine, although I did see this error again:

    00533 - Idle Speed Regulation
15-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Not Reached

This only came up after it was idling for a while when I was checking things with VAG-COM. There is a good chance it's because I don't have a idle stabiliser. (either that or an air leak or a faulty MAF :O) I have cleared it, but will wait and see what happens.
