Hi guys,
I am looking at having to replace the battery in a 2010 Golf R. Was wondering whether the stage 1 ECU programming would be lost if the battery was disconnected? Would it revert back to the default program?

I've disconnected the battery several times, never lost the ECU tune, safe as...
AFAIK with APR you usually have two/three tunes (or more). Stock, stage X and valet.
By default when you disconnect and reconnect the battery it will go to Tune #1 which is usually stock, BUT you can just switch back to tune #2 to get your power vack
If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you. | Refer a Friend - AussieBroadband $50 Credit
I don't think the 2010 Golf R ECU supports multiple APR tunes (something to do with a limitation of the capacity available)? In which case, it's always tuned and there's no switching possible. A battery replacement won't have any effect in this case.

even if it did, you wouldn't be charged for a re-tune. Your vin would be would be registered with APR.

I've had mine disconnected a few times and never recall it switching back to #1
That said I'm driving on program 1 (stock) most of the time now anyway - so much smoother.
I was goign to ask what the "default" program was. Obviously if you want to keep it away fro the attention of dealer you don't want it changing into "tune" mode ifthey disconnect the battery for whatever reason.
