Oooh nice. Me likey.
You a Mech Eng zbeasty?
I can't believe our Rs are running on the same K04s used in a 1996 Golf?
Which map should I look at? The top or bottom one? They have fairly different efficiency levels.
Thought this might be of interest to the more technically minded. I found this sight which actually has compressor maps for the K03 and K04. Don't know how to read them or anything but those who do can probably tell us what the most efficient boost levels are for each type.

There are many versions of the K03, I assume the same for the K04. A new K03 would probably outperform an old K04.
Its interesting to compare them with some of the maps for Jap cars

I'm actually a bean counter but my other option for uni was engineering so I have an interest in all things mechanical as well. After some more research there are actually 3 different versions of the K04 that I can find. K04-0275, K04-2075, K04-2275. I think the maps on that link are the 2275 at the top and 2075 at the bottom. I'm trying to find out what version of the K04 is on the R so that I can do some mapping. There are some formulas on the Garrett Turbo site that will let you work out pressure ratios and airflow requirements so that you can plot your engine against these maps to make sure you have the correct turbo.
