Looking good mate. I really noticed the difference at high revs although it does sound nice full stop. Make sure the throttle is opening all the way. I put a new throttle cable in when I had a pipercross and all of a sudden it sounded medieval
Does anyone know if you need to buy the k&n cleaning fluid or can you use something else?

I'm going to chase down a slightly smaller diamater pipe to run down into the bumper for cold air, it was a little to close to the belts for my liking.

It isn't quite as deep as my old hacked up airbox thanks to Beau but it has better sounding note, it also seems to rev a bit easier. Will give it a good test on the way upto sydney tomorrow.

There are a couple of brands that make similar things but not sure if you can really use them with a K&N. They may have different formulations/cleaning agents....Originally Posted by ibeezer
The K&N stuff is good anyway because it's oil is pink so your not as likely to over saturate the filter, and it doesn't cost that much (the $20-30 investment will last you a hell of a long time).
Yeh i suppose its safer to use the k&n fluid, i thought it was more expensive

can use pretty much anything, finerfilter, bmc, drift (autobarn/saas) they all work, but be prepared for a colour change if you change brands of cleaner kits.
I used K&N cleaning stuff on my old K&N filter on my old car.
Worked fine. $30. Hardly used any of it.

And if you care, using anything but K&N will void the 1,000,000Km warranty...
Personally, i don't think my car will last a million K's, even though it is a VW...
Having said that, I use K&N. I got the kit (oil and cleaner) for $24 on special, and i've had it for 3 cars now. Had K&N's on every car i've owned (except a sigma with rams and foam filters) and they are great at high revs, but don't do much down low...
Don't expect a miraculous performance boost, and it'll be worth the dosh. Expect an F1 car, and you'll be seriously dissapointed
Take into account that you'll never have to buy another paper panel filter for the life of the car, and it's a baragin in disguise i reckon...
My 2 cents
