Im not 100% positive, but id almost bet my right arm that the intercooler in the Passat 2.0 TFSI is exactly the same as the Golf R / Golf GTI etc which looks like the one in my pic below.

IF this is the case (and a good poke around from you would be able to confirm the approx size/shape of the intercooler) then any of the upgrades for the GTi/R would also fit your Passat.

    Such as:
    - the Audi S3 intercooler
    - the Eurojet intercooler
    - the THS intercooler
    - the APR intercooler
    - the SPM intercooler
    - the GodSpeed intercooler
    - the Forge intercooler

and possibly more, but thats all i can think of.

or the one i personally fitted recently, the THS replica intercooler for just over $400. More pics and details here if you are interested: THS Copy Intercooler review and installation pictorial semi-DIY

Changing the intercooler isnt going to give you 15kw or anything like that. Where they will be of benefit is either on:

    1) Repeated throttle applications. The new intercooler will help maintain cooler air to the engine on repeated hi RPM runs (such as dyno / 1/4 mile / race track etc).

    2) Hot days. The larger and more efficient core will work better at dissapating heat as well as more effective cooling of the air from the turbo.

As for the question of will it fit into your car - thats something you will have to research as i have no idea. Knowing car companies, im pretty damn sure that your car will be running the same intercooler as the Golfs, but as i mentioned in my first post, im not 100% positive.

^ those 600 x 300 x 73 cores wont fit in the stock intercooler location, and will be far too big to fit in front of the radiator (going off my car) because of the crash beam and mounts etc for the bumper bar. Scrap the 600 x 300 x 76 core idea.

Honestly, get under your car with a torch and have a good look - it will take you 10 minutes to see if the shape of your stock intercooler and pipes is the same as the pics on my link above. If so, then any of the intercoolers from my previous post will work.

I had an SPM put into my mk6 gti and it is able to clear heat soak much more easily than the stock one. Soon after I plant my foot i can see the air temp go down faster on my p3 gauge compared with the stock one. In really hot temperatures i find that intake air temp only goes close to ambient only when the car is accelerating rapidly which is good if you have a lead foot but not so good for granny drivers like me lol. Still a big improvement over stock which is the main thing.

The other thing i find is that due to the design of the factory mounting (intercooler behind the a/c condensor), as soon as the a/c is on, even with the SPM intercooler air temps are affected alot which is a shame as i prefer to use a/c. There is no other way around this except the Forge Twincooler but im not sure if it will fit 100% to ur car as it was designed for the golf front crash bar/bumper.

If you arent going to diy it (takes about 4-5hrs according to guides) then my tip would be to look at SPM, CTS, THS or APR. Im not sure i would trust godspeed but other ppl have put them in and gotten good results.

ps: APR lists the same intercooler for passat/golf/a3/tt but at the fine print it says:
*The APR Intercooler core will fit the Passat, CC and Tiguan. However, the hoses may need lengthened at your own risk.

Understandably - in that case, perhaps get a mechanically minded friend to assist you. Or even arrange a time with Miro from MRL Automotive in Adelaide to have a look for you. Might cost you a few dollars, but at least you will find out.

As mentioned by "peedman" above, APR claims that their intercooler fits the Passat as well as the Golf and Jetta with the 2.0 TFSI / FSI / TSI engine. In which case, any of the intercoolers i mentioned in my initial post should work.
