frankly a half cage is a bit of a waste of time as it will not really stiffen the car up that much and will add weight which is any mk1's enemy. I have a full cage in my car for tarmac rallies and it is surprising how much it stiffens the shell up
I've noticed them in a lot of build ups before nad wondered about them. I'm guessing a lot of them are merely for show purposes but are they actually of any use?
I think it's pretty much impossible to have a full cage in a road car due to the rules but i'm guessing a half cage is legal due to it not getting in the way?
Would they be of any use for a track/road car for super sprints and stuff? or just not worth the effort?

KEEPING THE BIG CUBES IN THE REAR VISION MIRROR
It's worth the effort if you go arse up in a big way, but as has already been said, it makes little difference to the rigidity of the chassis. It will, however brace your rear shock towers if they are not already tied in..![]()

They also make for a convenient place for mounting the seat belts!
Check your class regs. Some classes don't allow strut braces unless they're built into the cage.
But if they're there to anchor the belts.......

I'll tell you what, having driven quozl's car with the bolt in cage as well as mine there is a big difference between the two in terms of stiffness and that's just on the road. The car is like the same but not the same.
You just don't get that same feeling in my car (not that I'm complaining about my car).
Cheers,
Trent

What other suspension differences are there between yours and Quozls?
