Do the Carbonio intakes attract more attention when you get your cars serviced at vw? eg warranty issues?

Well... it's big and shiney and made from Carbon Fibre. So yes, it'll attract attention as soon as the hood is opened. Warranty issues? I'm not sure on that one - maybe a mechanic could mention if there is any way a quality air intake could cause an issue with a car that would require warranty work...

They would have to prove the airbox cause the warranty claim as well if i'm not mistaken..

I'm sure most of the dealers see countless modified GTI's and the like and do not bat an eyelid.

I've mentioned throughout my buying process that I would be modifying the tune, intake etc and not once did they say "err don't - they're cracking down" etc.

I've got my 15, 30 and 45k services all included from my dealer for free so I hope they don't all of a sudden decide to pull people up on such things.

Don't think you'd have any problems with an airbox, dont recall anyone having any issues with the dealer. These are also sealed and secured so you wouldnt have any issues with dept. of transport etc like the cheap pod filters people have sitting in the engine bay (sucking in hot air).

How big is the difference with Stage 1??

Im considering getting the APR stage 1 ECU upgrade but not sure (Got a MK6 GTi DSG)..

    1) How do they do it? Is it just direct port programming ie. plug it in and fiddle with
    software or actual hardware installed?
    2) Does it affect the warranty in any way?
    3) Is the extra power really getting to the road? Im running it stock at the moment on
98RON and when launching it at around 3500rpm getting fair wheel spin. Will the
extra power just make it spin too much and lose forward momentum thereby making
    it slower off the line?

Enjoying the cars heaps atm, did a couple of runs against a mate with a Civic type r and absolutely annihilated it
