Hey guys, great to see we havent resorted to any shaming of other tuning companies.

Please keep it that way, cause I opened this thread cause I am genuinely interested in the replies!!

And DeanCorp, I reckon he does mean @the wheels.. TBE and STG 1 making 202KW at the wheels is mighty impressive.. but lets take that to the OBSERVATION section please!

So far, a couple of happy GIAC owners which is awesome.. any EVOLVE people?

And yep, Peter Fitzgerald is the guy I was talking to.

I take it from all the "Tuner Wars" and discussion on dyno variations that there is no definitive comparison between tunes?
by that, i mean data that shows before and after dyno's, 0-100, &/or quarter mile times for each tune that can be properly compared.
It seems that the quoted figures from tuners are to be taken with a grain of salt (or 2), but there are also huge differences in the dyno charts put up by people who have had the same tunes done.... so it's making it very confusing to choose who to go with.

Basically, if you're reading posts from someone who is trying with all their heart and might to defend their overpriced tune to the point of making wildly inaccurate claims involving GPS timing boxes don't pick that tune.

Does anyone know which tuning company they source their VW remaps from?

I think the thing people need to focus on is the driving experiance, if a car pulls a smaller number on the dyno than expected but has awesome drivability and raises more of a smile what more do you want?

It has been said a million times, there are too many variables with dyno's and their primary purpose is as a tuning tool and not a bragging tool. Dyno the same car before and after making changes on the same dyno, with the same operator, etc and if you see a reasonable improvements your laughing. Who gives a **** if someone pulls another 5 or 10KW peak? look at the area under the curve and if yours is greater ultimately you will have a quicker car.

As others have said, some of the 0-100 times floating around are fairly questionable, but there is no point badgering people over it, if they want to live with the dilusion that there very mildly modded Golf .:R is equally as quick at the lights as big dollar super cars let them live in la la land (The first Lambo, Ferrari or Porsche they try and run will bring them back down to earth).

    Well said.

I spoke to Evolve a few times when I had my A3 2.0T and they were excellent and very helpful.
i was actually suprised when they told me they were the same price as APR, thought they would be cheaper.
But I guess you do pay for that warranty, etc.

They would be definitely one that I would consider for my S3 but I can't go past my regular independant being a Revo dealer, it just makes sense for me to go to my regular mechanic for the tune as well.

That is one thing I liked about the EVOLVE and other brands.. is that they are very realistic with their expected gains.

The guy, Peter Fitzgerald said to me his manual R with Intercooler, Intake, Tune and TBE improved by 0.6 secs to the hundred.

That is very realistic. The idea that a tune will take a 6.4 down to flat 5s or less, frankly, is ridiculous which is why I am looking at Evolve or even GIAC.

I just dont know where they have been done in SYDNEY. And secondly, what gains anyone has gotten with the EVOLVE and maybe GIAC on the MY11 R?

    Anyone?

    Is that a joke?

Corey or other Mods, is that in line with the nature of this forum? No experience or outstanding proven results? I take offence at that and it's not even anything to do with me.
