I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the 91-92mph trap speeds you say a stock manual R achieves.

How many manual Golf R's have been to the drags, on this forum I have only seen one, but about a dozen DSG cars?

A stock manual R will never go to the drags ever again? I'd like to see a stock R manual trap 91mph as you claim. It's the first time I've heard that before and it doesn't add up as I've botched shifts at the strip many times but mph was either the same or maybe 1-2 less at most.

Fair enough - you say 1 - 2 mph, I say 5, so we are 3mph apart, I suppose world wars have started over less.

From what we ran on the weekend, a full tank of fuel vs an empty one was several MPH in itself (60kg's).

I suppose the only way to prove it is take two stock R's to the strip, same day, same conditions & let them run. If yours is stock, that's one, just need another.

Mine has 198kw atw so not exactly stock

Plus you only need one stock manual R to prove your point. I haven't seen it make a difference on the S3s. Have you?

We did, we swapped our MY2007 S3 for our manual Golf R (before this Golf R) - and same as the Golf, it sucked in the 1/4 mile (Motor Magazine actually tested it & did the numbers). Stage 3 helped, but still the gear change & ratios hindered it big time.

Hard to keep manners in check sometimes...
nothing quite like the net...saves a blue and visit to the local cop shop, suppoose...imagine a pub & skin full...

Scratched around the handling balance, wheel alignment, Haldex controller etc but didn't get much traction (sorry) and DSG tune, ESP over-ride. Still curious if a nice power on outside rear squat opening steering balance is acheivable with an R...or tedious understeer / pure neutral is the reality? Fun, not race pace is the target.

Might be re-evaluating the recreation...lying here with a smashed & compound Tib / fib reconstruction courtsey of a low speed bump on my almost new 3.5hr old moto...no not a novice rider...3 motos in the shed to sell would finance a new game...
