Golf R down pipe ceramic coat or not

    Guys

Have just taken delivery of my down pipe and want to get your experienced thoughts on weather it is worth ceramic coating it before installation.

    Cheers

Golf R down pipe ceramic coat or not

I used to have a ceramic coated downpipe on my R - personally i wouldnt spend the money again. Never noticed any difference in heat/performance, and despite costing approx $250 for the coating, it started to chip/peel off in spots within about 6-8months of street use.

Ive now got a different down pipe and i just left this one raw stainless steel.

The only reason you'd do it is if you're worried about melting everything within the vicinity of the downpipe.

If it were me, I'd fit it as is, and maybe keep an eye on things.

Out of interest - which down pipe did you choose?

Most likely - unless you have the tune modified to take this into account.

The 42DD is made of mild steel. I would get it coated just to stop it rusting away on you. Unless you want to change your dump pipes as ofter as lucas doesGolf R down pipe ceramic coat or not

Otherwise it doesnt make a big difference. If you have a tune you wont need to worry about the o2 sensor.
