    Golf R APR Stage 1+?

    Hey all,

I notice that on the US apr site they have a stage 1+ tune available for the Golf R for those who just want to add the HPFP and keep the stock exhaust, do we have that available here?

    Cheers

I believe they only have stage 1.

Other tuners such as Viezu will allow you to add different bits and have a customised tune.

Hmmm I wonder whether they could just get the tune from the US guys and load it, or are there some engine differences between the cars?

Just from looking at the dyno graphs they have, it's quite a nice jump once you have the intake as well as the pump. 300WHP & 317WTQ vs 239 & 252 Stock

I don't think you can just purchase the tune from the US as we have Australian distributors so you are likely to have to go through them.

Maybe have a look in the tuning and performance section and see what is available to you.

yeah, as far as discrepancies in figures, prices, aftermarket service etc that have been seen in the past between the US apr outfit and the local aussie distributors, from what i can recall it just muddied the waters between the apr services/products sold in north america, and here, as well as creating confusion for customers who were unclear of what to expect.

in the end it seemed that APR north america began redirecting inquiries from the aussie market to aussie distributors (no doubt due to removing those discrepancies between markets, as well as making conducting business more practical/user friendly for APR and their customers on the whole)

i think if you emailed APR north america, they would likely not deal with you, instead informing you to deal with an australian distributor, which makes sense.

Yeah I get what you mean regarding looking at other tunes but I already have the stage 1 from them so would be a bit of a waste of money to have to pay for a whole other tune.

With regards to the US APR I understand that I can't buy from them directly but am more getting at whether I could get it via APR Australia. I know they do get a lot of stuff from the US guys so I coulnd't imagine it to be that much hassle.

It sucks over here in Perth as we have very little choice if we want an actual point of call if we have issue rather than just over the phone. I'll email harding performance and see what they say.

Got a nice quick response from James at HP, they just use the stage 2+ file and it works fine. 15,000km service is due in a couple of months so I'll do it then I reckon.

We have a specific tune for the Golf R fitted with pump only (you could call it 1+ but we don't), we have actually had this combination in place since we helped pioneer it on on the Audi S3 back in 07'.

Our new V 3.1 is about to be rolled out, and with pump & intake (no exhaust) on test Golf R's its making well in excess of 200 AWKW.
