hi all im considering a apr tune for my my14 golf now its out of warranty , i drive 90% on motorway so more torque for hills and over taking would be nice and any improvement in fuel consumption welcome .Its great now so anything extra is a bonus .. Do you have to do a clutch pack upgrade to handle the extra torque?
Thought the stock dry 7 speed could only handle 250nm?

Plenty of folks out there with the 118TSI that have the 7 speed dry DSG with a stage 1 tune and have had a good experience. I've got a 6 sp manual so I don't really know but I thought the gearbox had a torque limiter to prevent damage. Also, take those APR figures with a grain of salt.
There's also the DSG tune to match the uprated performance of a stage 1 tune...

im thinking no maybe best to just put my foot down if i need more power and leave it stock it might last longer all though it would be nice more power i do 90% of my driving to work on motor way im coming upto 120,000km with only a wiper jet being clogged so ive had a good run with reliability and i dont want to spend more $$ on 98 fuel .. i might buy a new car in 2 yrs time any way the new polo gti in 2018 looks interesting so does the new 162 tiguan .. but lots of saving to get one of those. i also have allways been getting gosford vw to do service i know its cheaper other places but so far they been doing a good job .

Fair enough. It will probably drive nicer, further and more reliably if you put 98 in it, even stock. If you use petrol discount dockets you can get 98 for about 95 prices anyway.
