Is this a fair price for HPFP & CAI?

    Hi guys

Currently got APR stage 2 on my Mk6 R (APR Downpipe/Miltek Cat Back & APR Stage 2 tune) and i've just been quoted the following by an APR dealer to upgrade to Stage 2+:

    HPFP $1300
    VW Racing CAI $975
    Installation $125
(Free upgrade to stage 2 tune)

Just wondering if these prices are reasonable or am i better off buying direct/elsewhere?

    Cheers

i see new prices that seem the same as to when the aud is much stronger. same prices mean less profit for the importer & distributor. what is not reasonable?

Sorry i should have clarified the prices i mentioned were given to me by the mechanic i use. They are an APR dealer. Obviously they will be putting a mark up on the price so i just want to know if the prices they quoted me are reasonable.

Generally the dealers will quote the list price for hardware. There's generally only discounting when there's a sale on but with the exchange rate taking a dive it's effectively on sale all the time (until APR put their prices up). The only difference you're going to find is the labour charge and that's a relatively small part of the deal.

If you go and buy your hardware elsewhere then you'll have to pay for the updated tune file anyway. It effectively works out that there's no real savings from buying the hardware elsewhere as you've already got an APR tune so you have to go back to your local APR dealer to get it updated.

The decision was already made when you chose the tuner originally. Unless you're unhappy with your tune/tuner I'd be sticking with what they offer as it's tried and tested.

That pricing isn't bad. It's about what you'd expect.

HPFP for other models of car usually range from $500-$1000. $1300 is the APR price because, well, "APR". Say no more.

For example - Autotech HPFP... VW Performance - Autotech Sport Tuning: Autotech High Volume Fuel Pump Upgrade Kit 2.0T FSI

Landed in Oz it'd be around $750
