Thumbs up Eurojet 3" Downpipe installed :)

Thought I'd share a few pics.
    Bought a Eurojet 3" Downpipe from ECSTuning.com
and got Dom from Carnegie Muffler & Brake to install it this morning.
Highly recommended guy to go to for all your exhaust needs. (Good service, good rates)

To the untrained eye (mine) it looked great and Dom remarked how the fit and finish of the DP was much better than some of other brands he fitted before.

The whole thing took about 2hrs to fit (including waiting for the turbo and exhaust to cool down before starting)

    Stock vs. Eurojet:

    All plumbed up:

How it connects to the existing exhaust:

    Initlal impressions:

    Sound:
No noticable increase in exhaust sound at idle. (Haven't driven it enough to report back higher RPM sound) Cabin noise is same as before.

    Power:
The engine feels like it's a bit more free revving than before. (Not enough drive time to make a firm decision)

    Check engine light:
    None to speak of

It was about $900 all up. (shipped from U.S. and installed)
Dunno really, was just looking at a few brands and this one caught my eye.
Got some good reviews from some of the U.S. forums and decided to buy it.

You will eventually get a CEL as I did. The code will be for low cat efficiency. I had the CEL cleared a few times before I fixed the problem with a 42DD O2 spacer.

Cool, I'll keep an eye on the CEL. If it does occur I'll grab one of those.
You reckon it'd make a difference if the O2 sensor's sensitivity gets tuned down as part of a Stage 2 tune?

Oh and one more thing HOTHATCH, does your turbo sound louder after the DP's gone in? For me, the turbo spooling sounds is noticably louder after the DP install.

David, contact me if you get the CEL; exhaust/emissions related CEL's are often programmed to stay on for a certain time frame after the initial error; in your case most likely caused by the secondary O2 sensor not being plugged back in when the car was first started after the downpipe install.

Now that it has gone away; it should not come back - if it does, I can get it coded out for you; as mentioned via email it is free of charge. We already reduced the sensitivity of it for your Stage 2 tune so I can't imagine that it will still pop up but it of course depends on the cat to some extent still.

Spooling noise is a good thing =).

Hmmm, I can't say I noticed any increase in spool sound. I wasn't aware you were running a stage 2 tune. You probably won't have an issue if that's the case. It took quite a few weeks before mine threw a CEL. Mine is a stage 1 tune and the O2 spacer has done the job.

    It's my turn now.

I've bought the downpipe, gasket and new nuts. Had it installed at Exhaust World, North Melbourne. One of the only few shops that actually opens on a Saturday close to where I live, so I gave them a shot. So far, I'm quite happy with their work and I'll see how the quality of the installation go after a week, if there is going to be any noise from a loose connection I'll know and will take my car back to them.

Performance wise, I can now hear the turbo spooling a little more and initially I thought something was wrong because acceleration of the car felt so smooth and light, I thought there was a loss of power, but then once it goes over 3,000rpm and the turbo kicks in, it's insane.

Noise, really the car sounds almost like stock, so I'm very happy with it.

If you get a stage 2 that alters the probes sensitivity you won't need a spacer, it's only a sensor that checks on the cat. If you change it to high flow, it throws a CEL, but that's all, it's just the light, doesn't affect drivability or fueling, the front O2 sensor does that. Pre 99 cars didn't have one, so only a problem for more modern cars.

Great price for a Stainless pipe, but I think you may have paid more than direct from Tim at Dubaddiction, who I have to say does these at a competitive price!

Same here. I've got a full 3" system and my turbo spool only a bee's willy louder than it was when the stock exhaust was on. But the whole exhaust is pretty quiet (which is exactely what I wanted - no drone) so it might be a design thing

Intake sound and DSG fart are nicely amplified though...
