engine conversion ! mk1 golf what to fit !

hi dub heads !

i've just bought my old mk1 back after 4 years and its time for a refresh , i was looking at fitting a 1.8 16 v but these seam to be getting hard to find and a little old !

the plan is to fit a cable change 5sp ( whats involved)
some sort of twincam 16v preferably with motorbike carbs

so i need some idea's of engines i can fit and cost help please !

I'm weighing up selling 1.8 16v on EFI that I took out of a car recently.

Just a matter of the price being right and me being willing to stick with 8v for now.

If I decide to sell I'll let you know.
