    ECU upgrades, poweroutputs and prices

    Hi guys

I wanted to compile a list of all ECUs, poweroutputs and prices for the MKV GOLF GTI as i couldn't find them on the site, little info about power and prices were here so i've so far compiled these. A point to note is that real world figures/dyno results can result in the power output claimed not being reached.

    APR 188kw/411Nm $1695

    Custom Code 186kw/330Nm $1050

    DNA basic tune 184kW/380Nm, $730
    aggressive 188kW/405Nm $730

    GIAC ? $1095

    Superchips ? $?

If you can throw in all others that would be great as for beginners who end up buying a GTI they as i ask the same question. I'm sure many won't care but many will be interested in this information. I was going to edit/add as people throw in the others.
I've also listed the title starting with ECU so when a search is done on 'ECU" this should come up for newbies like myself.

    Giac is $1095

I reckon u should talk to peoplr with each installed and go for a ride if u can too... Quoted figures vs actual drivability and proven dynos are two diff things.

Are these quoted outputs or dyno results?

    I'm thinking MkV GTI?

Romp is right on the money there. Price and max power are good things to know, but there are many other factors to be considered at the same time including not only drive ability but also service and support. If you just want to break things down to $/kW you should probably consider a Falcadore V8 instead.

For that, I'm sure if you ring the companies they would tell you the cost, or you can search the forums to find out, but I don't think that we need another 100+ discussion about chips and prices or bang for your buck.

$1050 would be the normal price but there's always a deal to be had somewhere. Free t-shirt and stickers.

And there are other cars (even VWs) besides GTi's (and which model?) that can have their ECU tuned.

I did search extensively on the forums and couldn't find what I was looking for.

What you are after is pricing?

This changes, often easter, christmas, etc sales...

As mentioned this is for the Mk5 Golf, which differs in pricing to other models (non Golf, non Mk5, non GTI), so if you want to compile a reference database, you will need to think about how you want to go about this.

It COULD be really helpful, but there are lots of options. I think you would need to create a link to a spreadsheet if you wanted to provide a full gambit of code provided for various cars...

Also, I think you need to provide some more info on quoted power vs peak dyno power vs average dyno power. There is lots of complexity then about which stages require which mods, generic or specific upgrades, etc...

See where this is going? Gets complex very quickly, thats why its not listed as a sticky...

IMO, quoted KW numbers from tuners tell very little of the story, I think you are better getting some average dyno readings and sticking to comparing Stage 1 only...

If you nail it, it would be great, but be prepared to get flamed by people who's dyno results are higher / lower, think their tune is the bees knees and want to rep their torque curves, etc...

    Good luck.

Superchips Bluefin Stage 1 is $699 from GC Corp

    GC Corp Performance Parts

This tune is milder than the others.
