ECU flash

Hey guys
I have a mk6 gti. And it has been remapped by HPF (custom dyno tune). Now I have upgraded the intake and downpipe for my car. I feel slower than before.
I'm wondering if I can get APR stage 2 ecu tune straight away or do I need to go for apr stage 1 first?

You can get an APR stage 2 tune straight away (it's simply a different file to the stage 1), but their stage 2 is an off-the-shelf tune designed for their downpipe and other mods (intake, optional HPFP, upgraded intercooler etc etc). Depending on your intake and downpipe it may not play 100% well - you'd need to speak to your local APR dealer to check what they'd recommend.

Failing that, take your car back to the original supplier of your tune for a remap now that you've had new hardware fitted.

I have apr intake and an aftermarket downpipe. So I'm planing to get a better downpipe.

This should be option one. Did you not consider the need for a re-tune after the downpipe was fitted?

Also, how much better do you expect the replacement downpipe to be. I predict that there will be no measurable improvement for the money you spend on it.

Downpipe wont make a difference. As long as its around 3" diameter with a hi flow cat then one brand is no different to another - dont waste your money changing it.

Okay. I did heard ppl say that downpipe gains the same power. Does it worth to go to stage 2?

My understanding is that you have a after market downpipe installed already, therefore you should get suitable tune for it, not only to get the extra benefit of the new hardwares, also to make sure your car runs correctly.

I don't understand what you are trying to say???

Any aftermarket downpipe of 3" diameter for the Mk6 GTI will be very similar in terms of performance - any differences would be so small you would not even know about it. Certainly not worth the money to swap down pipes simply to try and make 5kw.

I run a Eurojet downpipe on my MK6 GTI with 200 cel cat, and i certainly wouldn't be swapping it with anything else unless it got damaged.

You will need to have your tune updated to suit the new intake and down pipe.
