    DSG Tuning, remapping

I'll preface this with the fact I own a Walky tuned VF V8 Calais and the car our Golf 110TSI Highline replaced was a BMW 130i, so both cars with a bucket load of torque.

So with that being said why the hell does the DSG have a desire to slam through the gears like it's on drugs?

On Eco or Normal it feels like it's in 4th by 35-40km/h. On the other hand in Sport it'll hold the gear a bit longer but then then not go above 4th, which is annoying once up to speed.
It's something even my Wife, a total non car head has picked up on.

Having a little dig around on here I've found Guy from Hardings Performance has some tunes for the DSG available. Sounds great but wow $1300?

I get engine tunes would be in that region but just didn't expect a gearbox retune to be the same. Not sure why but I was thinking $600-800 to be a reasonable amount.

I haven't contacted Guy yet but was wondering who do Sydney people use or are there any other suggestions for companies that do this sort of thing?

There's other DSG tuners, not so many deal with the 7 seed I suspect you might have.

The 7 speed DSG used in the Golf's and Polo's are dry clutch, tuning companies will not waste their time and money into R&D, very limited customers.

Usually people getting a DSG tune after they get a ECU tune, in order to handle the extra torque, I don't think it's worth it to get the tune to just change the DSG behavior.

I have driven the 110 TSI Octavia (which has same engine and gear box as the Golf 110 TSI) a couple days ago as a loan car, I found myself using S for getting up to speed and lower speed driving, and once I can cruise I change it to D, D/S is just a yank/pull away from each other, can't be too hard once you get into the habit of doing so.

If that's the DQ200 or 250, RD Technik I represent can tune them. Not done one personally as yet, pretty low demand as previously stated. There is actually two ways to tune them, but in your case you would need a direct DSG tune. I'll find out the price, and if they can also do the new Stage 3 on them.

Nealo, I got the Harding Performance DQ250 driveability DSG tune for my 6 speed wet clutch. They said it was based on the latest VAG software version. Volkspower in Melbourne downloaded the file using a special connector and sent the file to QLD for modification, then loaded the new file once it came back.

Yes, it was expensive but it transformed the car. The gearbox now holds gears for longer in D and for less time in S. 6th now engages only above 70 kph. Achieved faster gear changes and prevents the jolting into 1st gear to extend both gearbox and clutch pack life. Also, when braking for corner such as turning into a side street the car changes down in a similar way to how you would yourself using a manual gearbox - not as good obviously, but better.

My only complaint now is I would still go further if I could - that is, I would like D to hold the gears even longer and S to change even earlier. Also, I would like D to hold 1st gear much longer. The DSG can't wait to get into 2nd at ridiculously low speeds.

In an ideal world, I'd love to own the connector and an ability to modify the change points myself on a laptop. Does anyone know if this can be done?

You could get the DSG tune modified, but the hardware to read and write to the box is expensive for a one off. The software to modify the file is also expensive.

It would need to have a new tune entirely, from a provider with more flexibility on modifying the tune. Underground Performance have that capability. They can do pretty much whatever you want to the shift points, within reason.

This is something I have done for a great number of cars now and for a number of years. All the DSG files we do here and in Perth are edited by myself .
The file you have is in my view set up incorrectly for first gear but it's their chosen path. I have tried this myself (yes what they did ) and if you have parked your car on a steep hill as we have in Sydney - fail. Also I typically opt for a higher 78~82 kmhr shift into 6th from 5th in D. The rest of the file is actually really good, there's some really woeful offerings around from other vendors

With the right software you can completely modify......

per gear shift RPM in both D and S mode
    Shift speed
    Torque limiters
    clutch clamp force
    clutch line pressure
    Launch control RPM

I ask owners to tell me what you want and I make it so but in a case like yours I would need to read your file and remotely via OBD it's only possible with the older CXX TCU's (yours is FXX). The rest need the DQ250 cable which I have in both Sydney and Perth.
