Hey Guys,

I was thinking of getting a DSG tune on my rocco but dont know anything about it and what it does. Is there a major difference and does it warrant the $1150 cost. Currently running a stage 1 APR tune.

Also, is it ok to install a downpipe on a stage 1 without getting the stage 2 tune

The main aim of the DSG tune is to change the characteristics of D and S gears - making D more efficient and S more usable. There are many other goodies like launch control RPMS (that I don't and won't use), no automatic kickdown etc.

Lots of info here - APR DSG tune for the GTI 6R, thoughts/reviews?

I think depending on which DP, it may throw a CEL without a Stage 2 tune.

Don't think too many people complain about the results of the DSG tune ..........

Only the cost of it lol

I would also recommend Underground performance. They did a DSG tune on my son's APR tuned and my Underground performance tuned Golf R's and I'm pretty sure they charge around $750.00, maybe less for the DSG tune. We got a bulk deal so I don't know for sure. It makes the 2 modes closer together. It makes Drive in my car very similar to what I would be doing in gear changes if it was a manual. I believe Alex is based in Melbourne too.

Thanks for the info. I think i will go APR as the stage 1 tune is APR. I think they might couple up well.

Makes no difference where you go for the DSG tune. Don't go APR "just" because you have their engine tune.

Up until recent times, the DSG tunes that APR dealers were supplying weren't an APR product. These were something that Harding Performance (the APR Australian distributor at the time) was sourcing from Europe and supplying to the APR dealers.

I'm not sure how many people actually have an APR DSG tunes. Not that I think it matters because I suspect they are all similar in what they do (adjust shift points, faster shifts, re-engage 1st gear, increase launch RPM, etc).
