    Disable ESP..completely

How do you disable the ESP completely? It's soon wintertime, and I need to have some fun with my car! Almost impossible to do handbreaks/drift with this, it's too stable
I asked my dealer, but they said there are no updates for my car?! Where can I confirm this?
I've also heard that the 2012 models supports to disable this completely (2 level coded tcs mode). Is this true? And if it's true, why can't I get this firmware upgrade if it has the same components?

    I have a 2011 Scirocco 7-speed DSG 160TSI.

    Thanks!

Easy on the 7 speed - go to the ABS block on the firewall. Unplug the big cable that runs to it. It disables ESP & ABS completely.

We do it for the skidpan on our Polo GTI. Of course you can't drive on the road like this.

You will need to clear all fault codes when you plug it back in though.

I have not tried in the Golf R - I don't find the ESP stops skidding in the Golf R so have not had the need. In the 7 speed, it literally cuts throttle & locks the brakes when you try to "Scandinavian Flick" it.

Great, thanks for that. I'll give it a try on the next trackday.
What kind of application do you use to clear/read fault codes? Can you use WAG? Any freeware?

    Cheers

Use Ross-Tech VCDS to clear the faults. No freeware that I know of that works 100% on the late CAN cars
