Do you want power or pretty carbon fibre?
Hi All,
I'm looking at changing the air intake on my 2010 Golf GTI MK6 to the Carbonio Stage 1 from ECS Tuning Volkswagen Golf VI 2.0T > Engine > Intake > ES#261246 Carbonio Cold Air Intake - TSI - CI100020
From what I understand the Australian delivered engines are CCZB, and ECS Tuning only offers CCTA and CBFA models. Does anyone know if the CCTA or CBFA intakes fit the CCZB?
Further to the above, I currently have a bluefin stage 1 tune and I was wondering if bluefin offer updates to existing maps free of charge to incorporate a non standard air intake?
Thanks in advance,
Will

A bit more response and some added noise as a bonus.
If you look here > APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles. you will see there is an optional breather mini air filter "Breather Hose Filter - Required for CBFA engine codes" which i believe is the engine code used for older (MY 2009/10) MK6 GTi engines as well as in the VW Tiguans etc. If your airbox has looks like this then its a CBFA > VWVortex.com - CBFA or CCTA engine codes
Otherwise, if it doesn't have that little hose on the front of the stock airbox, its a CCZB. I think you will find your car is a CCZB. The APR intake will fit fine regardless - but depending on your engine code you may need the optional mini air filter breather.
You should also be able to confirm the engine code by looking at the sticker on the side of the engine cam cover and/or looking at the first page of your owners manual (the dealer sticker on the inside of the front page).
Regarding buying the intake, two things to note about ECS Tuning are.....their postage is VERY expensive to Australia, and i think you will find they wont sell APR products out of the USA. So you might be better off buying from your local APR dealer while they have their end of financial year sale on - i think you'll find the price reasonably similar to getting it from ECS.
Regarding your Bluefin tune (im an ex Bluefin customer myself), your Stage 1 tune will be perfectly fine with a new free flowing intake, although if you plan to do any further mods (dump pipe etc) then you could upgrade to their stage 2 file.

Thanks for the thorough reply Lucas.
I'll check my engine on the weekend and confirm which engine I have. Might even head down to Volkspower to pick up the intake.
Cheers!
