You have to ask yourself first how often you have your bonnet opened and actually look inside to see if it's worth the extra $$
More for completeness sake, and a slightly sportier sound. I know that there won't be much of a performance gain.

After something similar, does the APR intake make much noise? (youtube clips are hard to tell by)
No.
It's quite quiet compared to other options.

On the MK6 GTI (due to a different intake design over the MK5 GTI) the stage 1 intake sounds really nice. The stage 2 section is really only for looks, and although it does look nice, would make little to no difference in noise/power over the stage 1 part.
On the Mk5 GTI and Mk6 Golf R (both share the same engine cover and intake design) the Carbonio intake is only a bit louder than stock. If you want a design thats louder still with all the turbo whooshing and fluttering etc then you need to scrap the plastic engine cover and the restriction it poses and get yourself a complete replacement intake.
I hear stage 2 only makes about 5-9kw difference. Is that true? If so spending $1325 for an APR DP is not really worth it...unless you plan to goto Stage 3 etc.
The OP is posting about the "stage 2" pipe for the Carbonio intake, not the Stage 2 APR remap.
I got the Pipercross "stage 2" pipe because I wanted to keep a stock-ish look, and wanted abit more spooling noise. No performance gains at all, and marginal increase in spool noise.
Probably not worth it unless you're looking for engine bay bling.

If you're after bang for your buck you shouldn't have gone with APR period
In general though, if you already have a decent TBE and you're not getting a bigger turbo then don't waste your money.
