Car Fault Code Readers - The Best Universal One For mk3 golf TD 94 ??

Hi All
Anyone know of a good 'fault code reader' ?
To read + explain codes etc + more
There's a lot on ebay ranging from £20 - £80.
All claiming to do the same thing - CAN,EOBD,OBD2 etc
I've got a mk3 golf td (1994) engine code 'aaz' at the minute,so I'm looking for a device that could connect to it if possible.
Will it be the 16 pin or 2 lead connector version I need ?
Does anyone know where the connection point is on this model of golf ?

Late reply i know but meh. Where abouts are u? There isnt much electrics in the aaz motor, the only thing that would pick up on a scan are airbags, cruise, abs, immob and thats if u have any of those. If u take the blank off next to the ash tray u will see what connector u need. All aussie models use the 16 pin obd2 type port.
