You can use stock springs and retainers with those cat cams, but if your serious about power gains dont just limit yourself to cams and ecu modifications.
It all depends on your budget but their are so many excellent modifications to gain power.
Bore and hone it 0.020" oversize with 11:1 forged pistons (wiseco are a good choice with N/A engines). Fully lighten and balance your crank, rods, pistons and especially your flywheel, . You wont need forged rods unless your planning to rev it past 7500rpm.
If your considering an aftermarket ecu also consider throttle bodies which combined with the correct porting and polishing can acheive massive top end power. Get heavy duty valve springs and titaninum retainers with 0.5mm oversize vavles. An adjustable cam gear to move the power curve up the rev range.
Cat cams make some really serious hollow cam grinds which require solid lifters aswell.
After market ecu's are the best way to get the most out of the modifications made, with an experienced tuner you will not only see great results on the dyno but drivability that counts aswell.
