$5K will not cover it, no way!!!
Suspension, brakes, insurance???? ect. ect... The list goes on and on....
If budget is no issue then spend up big!!!!
If you are going to do it, do it once and do it properly.
My 2 cents worth, Andrew
I dont believe 5k will cover it. There are always unforseeable things that will need replacing. While im putting my abf in ill be spending close to $600 on service items such as new clutch, new cv boots, new bushings, tie rod ends etc etc and this doesnt include my planned brake upgrade which ill budget another $600. Engineering costs another $400-1000 then dont forget insurance and rego. A standalone ecu will cost about $2100 inc installation or $1500 and u wire it in urself. That is practically 5k gone and u havent even bought the turbo, manifold, exhaust, piping, gaskets, head rebuilt? + labour costs. This is not cheap and i would not even consider cutting corners.

if we are talking on a car that has already had suspension upgrades a healthy engine and such. 5k is do-able if you are able to do a lot of the work yourself.
to build a "complete" car takes more than 10k. but thats not whats in question.
can the polo ecu handle boost? even just a small amount? surely getting a diesel manifold and turbo would be a very cost effective way to do it. Run it on 8psi or something with a small cooler or something.

tha plan is only for a small set up remember. SO things such as suspension and brakes aren't going to need massive amounts spent on them.
And josh is looking at doing alot (really, all) of the work himself, or done free/cheap through work.
and he's can get alot of things cheap, pipe, turbo, etc etc, as has been mentioned before a number of times!
unfortunately no budget isn't an option, but I think the ECU will be the biggest challenge.
