Thread: Bigger injectors for GTI

  1. #11

The software never changes in the car, it is fixed, so no use reprogramming it. What does change (in the fuel system) is

Fuel filters clog up & let less fuel through
Fuel Pumps can die (our own Polo GTI K04 had this issue & it took us weeks to work it out)
Injectors can become dirty and / or blocked

Thats why its important to log data to try to find the exact cause of your issue!

With the current exchange, would cost just over a grand to land a BW K04 with kit from ECS.

    Damn...

Yeah That is what I was thinking, then there is the tune as well, cause I am a existing APR customer they still charge $750

Guy seeing as you have a sale on now, could I get the car flashed with a K04 tune now, without having the K04 on it

Your car wouldn't run for very long with the incorrect software in it.

Flash it & park it until you have the turbo on, then no issue.

As for the difference with the KO4, it is like chork and cheese from the K03 that had the APR tune. It's now a bit mental even in second it lights up the wheels - I would not want any more power... It is not a genuine K04.
Im looking at doing the ko4 upgrade in about two weeks after i install the FMIC.
Can you please tell me, Is it worth it???? the little info i can find, most say its not worth the power. The APR guy in monavale, sydney is kinda rude and doesnt really talk much!.

It depends on how much your spending, I did mine myself so it cost me less than $500, plus the tune. I would say yes, it is a lot faster than it was with the stock turbo and APR tune.

    Ok great!

I don't really want to spend much or i may as well go and lease a Golf R and eat everything.
more than $1800 for it all incl the ko4 software @ $750 would be pushing the friendship.
The Ko4 itself ill con my mate to install as i think that is out of my league.

The Ko4 that I have been quoted is $1300 and he reckons he will chuck in a Greddy boost controller. Ill flog that off on ebay or something if I really need to bring it under the $1800 mark anyway.

Do you hear the "Hiss" drastically increase when its spooling/boosting???? and finally, would you say it is that again of the power difference between completely stock to the APR Tune?? 2nd gear pulls hardest so i would assume that with the ko4, itd be like 2nd gear but through all the gears. Please shed some light

if you can get it all done for under $1800 then I reckon it would be worth it. In mine second get is not really usable as it just spins the tyres, so third is now my new second. and forget about trying to use first.
    Not much more hiss.
Nothing is as dramatic as the stock tune upgrade.
one thing I would say is it now pulls all the way through the rev range, when before it faded a bit towards the top-end...

The K04 is an old design, I'd think about something link the Frankenturbo, but it will cost more to setup. As for traction, etc, depends on your suspension setup.
