AUDI TT RS Brake setup on Octavia (Golf MK5/6)

So I have a set of front calipers coming from a 2013 TT RS. for people wanting to do this, AUDI RS3 calipers are the same and will bolt on to an Octavia 1Z, and golf mk5/6.

I need to buy rotors, this is where it differs, RS3 rotors (8P0) are 10mm offset from the TTRS, and they don't fit my car.

No problems, I get 8J0 rotors. But, now, I'm confused.

Any idea on what the difference between 8J0615301E and 8J0615301F is?

its not left and right, I think they are the same, but the F is the revised model from the E - which was recalled or something - because of brake squeal. something TTRS owners complained about a lot.

can anyone on here confirm the difference if they have access to part numbers please?

id greatly appreciate it. if not, ill just take a risk. they are the same dimensions etc so they will bolt on no problems.

cant wait for them to arrive!

As you say it was just a revised part number to go with the updated part. As the number is the same I would suggest they are no different. The letter at the end of the number is just the version of the part.

Sent with a mix of black magic and a dab of smoke and mirrors!

Interested about doing this to my Tig as well. Very interested about hearing the outcome of the conversion.

thanks guys, and much appreciated for the information a239947. I googled the part numbers over and over, I thought it was what you said, but needed confirmation.

the install is easy, ill add information and probably do an FAQ for the people wanting to perform this upgrade to their car.

essentially it all bolts on with no modifications (perhaps only to the rotor dust metal thingo).

I also ordered the RS3 brake ducting/air diverter that sits on the LCA.

HOPEFULLY my 'kit' comes with the brake line brackets. I really should have confirmed, but I was so excited haha

Be aware they can cause heavy amount of squeal.

The ducting, not being rude but are a completely waste of time. It won't generate that much cooling for your brakes, you're better off doing your own to the back of the calipers itself. There is a massive thread about the difference on vagoc or audisport i cant remember now.

Just note, rotors are about 400+ea, and pads are bout $800+ in Australia for future reference lol.. get all you can from where ever you're purchasing at the same time.

Also check your brake master cylinder, with your car its likely you're running a smaller BMC which means realistically its not much of an upgrade because your BMC is not particularly suited to your 4 pot setup.

You should really upgrade this or you will get increased pedal travel.

    - 22,22 mm (mk5 gti / octo rs)
    - 23,81 mm (mk5 R32, mk6 gti, golf r, s3 8p)
    - 25,40 mm (RS3/TTRS)
    What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

the RS comes with the 23mm BMC already.

yup checked the master cylinder. we don't have US models over here so don't get the unsuitable master cylinders.

rotors are around $450 a pair delivered from Europe. project mu make pads suitable for brembos now. there is NO way ill pay Australian prices for parts. major rip off.

the brake cooling kit makes no difference on the street, but this isn't a street setup.

I have ideas on ducting from the front bar to the air diverters. they wouldn't put them on the car from factory unless they did something. it at least makes some turbulence behind the wheel and pushes air onto the rotor/hub. enough for me IMO.

OK so most of it has arrived. Need to get some brake fluid and then work out a date to get access to a hoist and install.

doing a trial fit on the weekend, need to be 100% sure they clear my wheels before I install. ill also try the 18" Skoda Neptunes and see if/how much of a spacer ill need to run them

    Nice!

How much does the set up weigh? I'm tossing up between the TTRS setup and the VWRacing.
