    APR tune lock the ECU?

My friend bought a car with an APR tune on it. He is thinking of going stage 2 but does not wish to go with APR.

Will he be able to go to another tuner and have the car mapped or will the ecu be locked out??

why do that? If you already have APR and all, isn't it easier to go to stage 2 which isn't a big jump anyway.

Sort of like going two steps back to go one step forward me thinks......

He dosent want to spend 2500 on a downpipe and 1000 on a fuel pump. This is the reason.

With Viezu at least, we need the ECU returned to the APR "stock" file, and then it can be overwritten. Did one recently, worked fine.

The DP isn't $2500! And you don't need a upgraded fuel pump for stage2.

GIAC can overwrite most other tuners ECUs. There are some that dont rewrite the whole ECU during the tuning process and struggle as APR didnt put things back where they found them

What tune is your friend looking to go for?

He is still weighing up his options, but i think he did mention either GIAC or DNA Tuning.

charging to return to stock would always be at the discretion of the person doing the work. I doubt many places would do it for nothing given the liability/time involved in flashing an ECU especially if the ECU is one that needs to be removed from the car and bench flashed.
