what a coincidence - on Saturday my wife's Eos dropped coil pack on #4. Luckily I had spare set at home!

And thanks Brad, that's pretty much what I was told and yes, it turned out to be the issue.

Interesting because Revo are now recommending that if you get a tune on the new polo GTI, you replace the spark plugs to sheilded jobbies because (I think this could be a toss but hey, they're saying it helps and gives better results of the tune) the stock factory plugs get fouled up too easily with the stock mapping and when they put the new tuned map into the ecu, the different 0000111010001 or whatever causes a different firing or some-whosit and then the spark plug starts misfiring and potentially making the coilpack go bung....

Good to hear that it's sorted for you now though

Im not REVO but think theres some truth in that. My plugs after only 5500 miles(8900km) are covered in white marks showing they get extreme heat. The new plugs are apparently not as exposed and more able to handle the heat, so ive ordered new ones.

This morning I had the same issue as the OP. Dropped the car into VW just now. I hope it's just a coil pack

It was pretty common on highly tuned Mk5's as well. I replaced mine with the beautiful red audi ones just for good measure, along with the red wiring loom...

Definitely a failed coil. Will be fixed tomorrow. *I think I'll buy a spare one to keep in the boot.

Update: they replaced the failed coil, and when they were testing it another one went, so they are replacing all four. Another day without the car, but at least they're doing it properly I guess
