I had APR stage 1 installed over a year ago on 118TSI Mark VI.
The engine had a 50,000klm service at another workshop (who is also a dealer) in Sydney 3 months ago and I am finding that the car is not as responsive as it was when stage 1 was first installed.
All sorts of cars whiz past me and just wondering if it is to be expected with the stage 1s.
I had the exact same feeling after a while. The real push just kinda went away and it was a big disappointment. I didn't know if it was just me getting used to it or whether it had actually deteriorated.
After a whole bunch of checks and so on it was the replacement of the n75 and n249 (some people just delete that one) valves that helped sharpen mine up again.
Also check for boost leaks and compression at your next service is worthwhile. if you don't do it yourself, try and get a mechanic that can live scan the car while driving or get a printout of it etc to see if there's performance issues there.
Installing a CAI and the golf R intercooler (at the same time) also helped me noticeably, my engine is at about 50,000 km now and goes harder than ever.
Hold at 3,000RPM in second and plant your foot. You should feel two good pushes as you go through the supercharger overlap range transitions into the turbo peak. You should also be able to hold in second at 4,000 and plant your foot to feel a good boost from the turbo range.
If you don't get that response you should check those valves out. They're pretty cheap to replace too. Installing a boost gauge or Polar FIS on the 118 TSI is also a good idea, you'll see any boost drop offs straight away instead of relying on your butt dyno.
Thank you
I realise we all have I likes and dislikes when it comes to tunes but I would not be paying $2000 for a tune that most likely negates drive-chain warranty.
If you feel like a bit of a read there are 170 plus pages in the US Golf Mk7 forum 'BMS JB Stage 1 Released' from many satisfied users. You will be able to find out more there about it being detectable or not etc.

No worries!
If you haven't done so already, getting some whiteline / HP etc adjustable sway bars is the next most fun mod for these cars in my opinion. Really stays flat int he corners.
I also find that the AC being on or a second passenger really taxes the fun. The little 1.4 engines seem really sensitive to that extra work, especially with a full tank. I reckon that also means some weight savings would translate into extra fun though...
Some lightweight 17's, an AGM battery and tyre in a can would make for good times.
