APR ECU Stage 1 and your warranty...

Apologies in advance of this has been covered elsewhere guys ...

Is it definitive that an APR ECU upgrade will banaish your warranty to the abyss ??

Is there anyway the VW techs would not know ?? ie: a way to 'hide' the new ECU etc ??

...i am by no means a tech-head...so pls excuse my ignorance

    Cheers guys!!

2 days until i get my new TIG!!!

    You can't "void your warranty"

If there is a part that fails and it is linked to the ecu remap then they can claim that you modified the vehicle and may not fix the item under warranty.

However, if your window button stops working there is no way it can be linked to the ecu remap and thus they have to fix it.
This has been covered extensively in teh tuning section and the mk 6 forum.

    Thanks Team_V!

I guess if I go ahead with the APR, i just have to hope there are no mechanical dramas sewn into my future with the Tig ...or it may become an expensive excercise to finance the repairs ...if its deemed to be APR-related dramas...

BTW - I have really enjoyed reading your dedicated thread ...all 44 pages of it!!!!

Don't worry ... it's highly likely your VAG has a chastity belt on it!

So APR guys may not even be able to flash it (without pulling out the ECU).

But if say they can, then I suggest you ask them to give you the full details of what the process involves (especially noting your warranty concerns) and whether the flash is detectable or not (both in terms of flash count and the actual physical appearance of the ECU if removed and re-fitted)!

As far as I recall, most aftermarket reflashing companies...(APR, BLUEFIN, CUSTOMCODE) etc will provide their own limited warranties.

    Anyone else heard that?
