We have a further level "Stage 2+" which is designed to accompany downpipe/intake/intercooler upgrades which would easily lift the performance level up to if not beyond the 160's. In fact, even on his current tune, downpipe/intake upgrades could quite easily bring the car close to the 160kW mark on the same day.

I hope this clears up any confusions or misconceptions people may have regarding "Stages"; what one company defines is different to another. We rate our Stage 1 program at 184kW, Stage 2 at 188kW, and Stage 2+ at 196kW. As such, the different in peak power is greater between the 2 to 2+ than between the 1 & 2.
Fair enough John, but note that the Octavia runs a TSI engine, not FSI. Different beast, you can't compare the engines at all.
A GIAC MK6 GTI (TSI) in Sydney ran 172kw with intake/downpipe.

It's a BWA code engine, Bosch MED9 ECU platform, just like the Mk V GTI. It is one of the last second gen Octavias, so despite it being relatively new, it is not the new "TSI" engine as in the third gen Octavia.

However, we rate the Mk V and Mk VI gains the same, so I can't imagine the Mk VI's posting much higher figures. 172kW on an aggressively tuned 2.0T + intake/downpipe on a different day/different dyno sounds about right though in terms of relative performance.

Ah okay, fair enough. Interesting though that you consider TSI/FSI gains to be the same though, TSI engines always seem to have the clear advantage.

I don't set the specifications for DNA Tuning UK's ECU upgrades; as such I can really only go off the information provided to me. I haven't seen solid evidence that the 2.0TSI is stronger than the 2.0TFSI, especially when tuned.

Actually, taking a look at the specs of the other tuners, they are also virtually identical to their Mk 5 counterparts, so yes, based on that, and also subjective comparison between Mk 5 and 6 tuned GTI's, they seem to be the more or less the same power-wise. I'm looking forward to seeing comparisons between some Mk 5's and 6's on the same day, same dyno, same tuner, etc. though for sure!
