VW Village in Randwick does 5 hour REVO trials. However, if you ECU is not a model they have programmed before, you may have to pay to have the tune done first and get a refund if you are not happy with it.
Hi Guys,
Starting to research getting a tune done for the GTI and the usual "Which one should I choose" has come along. I have been mainly looking at the APR Stage 1, but then I came across the REVO Stage 1 Tune.
Revo claim 205kw versus the APR 189kw.
So I ask this .......
Has anyone else had a look into this Revo Tune for there MKVI yet. More power and more torque. So the only reason I can think more people choose the APR tune is for the convenience of switching between stock and stage 1. There is plenty of discussion on the APR tunes ..... I have searched ..... But barely anything on the Revo Tune. So hoping there is someone that has had experience with Revo and what they thought.
I am really interested in this, so if anyone can shed some light / advice, would be greatly appreciated.
Here is where I found some info - peakautomotive.com.au -

There's already extensive discussion on APR and Revo and all the other ECU's in the ECU Upgrades & Chips forum... which is where I'll move this thread.
More power doesn't mean it's better, you should take a look at the installed base, the support network and any problems. One tuner recently pulled the plug suddenly on their Australian distributor and no longer have a presence in the country so be wary of smaller companies with limited attachment to the country (this isn't directed at any tuning company either).
I'm sure you could get 250kw out of the GTI engine (for a short time) but do you want some extra power without any reliability issues or do you want a heap of power and to hell with reliability and warranty?
Not suggesting any one over any other one either, do your own research and make up your own mind.

I hear that they might be being helped out by someone else now.....
As for support none of the companies here can actually see or modify the tune anyway - everything is just a cut and paste from an offshore provider so thats where the work is really done- and if by some remote chance your ECU is dead or killed during the reflash process...well theres not much that can be done apart from sending it to somewhere that can do it which could be quite expensive. So the "Support" might be not be of much real use at all
I wouldn't be focusing too much on Engine power best Guesstimates either as there is no accurate way of determining Engine power via a measurement taken at the wheels so take any of these with a grain of salt indicative yes but thats about it. Only one other company here uses a dyno to test and validate their tunes and hats off too them. Even then its not your car that they test
Go with the place that you feel happiest with & yeah don't just base it on power figures
/end of rant LOL
