Looking good!! Good feeling when it all starts to come together!
Sitting a little high but it will settle down a bit! Only way to slam them down really low is with a coilover kit....but they cost big $ obviously!

That's not my car! He has used a very similar name (tassiemk1). I know the car and it has 16s from memory!
I've got 17s on my MK3 and they are planty big enough for the size of car!Have had 18s before on a MK4 and cost of tyres was a killer! Don't think I would want to go beyong 15s on a MK1......but they would look sweet!

The trouble with that is that they look like nothing by modern standards.
If you can fit a 15 with a big tyre, surely you can fit 17s with low profiles?

    15s or 17s

I think (and it hurts) 16s and above are too big for mk1s.They are after all and old car and 17s are for modern jap look approach.!6s 17s are out of favour now back in your old homeland Loon and 15s seem to be just right.Just ask Goldilocks.
Go back to TassieGTIs picture of his car, and it looks even better now its been lowered.
Any tyre size aboce 195/45 .16 is too high and the common 16 would be 205/45 .16 or 205/40 .17.Tooooo high 4wd look??

The 15s x 6s that I have to go on it just look so tiny. Even the wife who cares little for cars said yeah looks good, needs bigger wheels.

Its pretty low 1350mm to the roof from the floor, at the back unladen, but the gap above the wheels looks huuge. Hopefully if the seats and fuel and engine weigh it down a bit, it will sort itself out. If not, bigger wheels.

I agree with what you are saying guys, I have had heaps of Golfs and the ones with 13s spin up faster and handle better than many with bigger wheels.Time shall tell, I`ll run the 15s till the car is engineered and registered, then, who knows.

Cant show any update pics, as I have not struck a blow on it, being involved with the Jetta!

I know the small wheels and chrome bumpers are in at the mo, but i`m an 80s child and like the plastic and smooth lined look to update the original classic. Again, who knows.
