    Anti-lag System

Out of interest, has anyone here set up an anti-lag system on their R or GTI?

What was your experience, how'd you do it, who'd you use for parts etc, can you post a vid?

Hi mate. Underground Performance set up antilag on my Mk6 R. It was set up as part of the tune. The idea behind it is pretty cool, but haven't use it that much... I gave a video, just need to find the link...

Thanks. Were you able to turn it on and off, or would it always be on?

We do this for some customers S3's and R's mainly the guy who are fairly serious about racing. You can't turn it off as such but you can raise the limit via the CC stick. Then again its only active during launch mode so its not an issue. Great for flames and making the neighbours run for cover

I thought that's a rally setting, it's certainly not road legal in NSW, friend of mine has that on his Evo, huge fine when he got caught(I think it was 5k at the time, it was 8 years ago), it's not hard to get caught anyway, as it was catching so much attention (super loud and literally blowing fire).

Considering its only active during launch control you'd really have to go to a bit of an effort to have it working - not the kind of thing you'd be doing in an area where police might want to have a look at your car. Essentially the ECU behaves as normal when its not in this mode so it can be fully compliant emissions wise assuming everything else was the same. I could have this arrangement on a completely stock mapped car for example.
For normal everyday drivers its not worth the pain or money

umm not to mention this affects the longevity of your turbo, manifold, downpipe and all the sensors in the top end of the exhaust.

if you have the money to rebuild turbos and replace items, then do it

    otherwise its just scene points

In saying that and expecting the same myself its certainly being used very often on two cars in Sydney and nothing seems to have died as in nothing at all. The way it operates is not nearly the same as the full on rally type setups but its still very effective.

how is yours different? just asking to know

generally they inject fuel into the cylinder as the exhaust valve opens and then ignites the mixture as it leaves the chamber through the turbine to keep it rotating.

have to be careful. can over-rev the turbo and that will cause all sorts of other problems

There's a few different types of Antilag. The way we have it setup is a little different as it tries to keep timing pretty sane till you just approach the CC stick set launch RPM plus boost is limited to stop some crazy turbo nastiness. You could make it much more aggressive but there is no need 10PSI or so at 2x00 rpm is more than enough to create traction issues.
If you look at some of the Mk6 APR manuals in the states they are using it as well as a no lift shift option - not sure if its available to the public though. You can hear the pulses, sounds nice.
As I sort of said above hundreds of launches and not a single turbo casualty anywhere even though we've all expected something to die. Murphy's law will now probably kick in and destroy one tonight now
