when driving normally i have a jolt i should say from 3rd gear to 4th,
happens around 70 to 80 km's p/hour, what would be the trouble.
the trans oil is brown black. isn't it to be red in colour and shouldn't it take DexIII, i have not put that in yet.
the gearbox is full!
would appreciate some info. the car has only travelled 164 000km's since 94.
cheers
Ok mate, grab your gearbox code from your white sticker thats in your boot or service book ( front page) There is a chassis break and some do take Dex and some do take Audi ATF which can be substitued for Penrite ATF BMV. Which is loads cheaper. You will have to change your screen filter too and your sump pan rubber gasket. Ok i have had this fault presented to me but was on a 5hp ZF trans which is in the later models. Jerking like a bad set of plug leads. Now after diagnosis i found it was the torque convertor that was the fault. Now you will have to check your engine is sound plugs, leads and run a scan. You can also do diagnosis on the trans if you know someone with Vagcom or similar. See if there is any faults in engine and trans.
Black and burnt isnt good mind you
