Just want to put it out there that most of the upgrades for the 77TSI at the moment are just interceptor modules. The reason is, the tools required to interface with this Simos ECU are not widely available and are certainly not cheap. DNA Tuning chose to take the plunge into tuning these vehicles as early on as possible, and as such we have been able to squeeze a rated 100kw from our Stage 1 tune without pushing the limits of boost pressures.

The turbos on the 77TSI are the size of an orange; competing interceptor module products at the moment essentially attempt to "fool" the ECU and call for almost twice as much boost gain as our Stage 1 program is calling for; as such increasing the rate of wear on the turbo/engine and without increasing idle/part throttle smoothness nor fuel efficiency. We can achieve the same power more smoothly and efficiently as we have proper control over all ECU parameters such as fuelling, timing, etc. Wait til you see our Stage 2 tune to suit accompanying intercooler and exhaust upgrades. =)

Of course, gradually there will be more and more proper ECU remaps available. That said, I hate to ask the question for those waiting for more options, but... why wait? =) Our 77TSI tune has been carefully refined and developed and is available for just $830. Cheaper alternatives may arrive sooner, but I can't imagine by much!

I take it this will void the warranty on the car?
    POLO 77TSI DSG 5D - MY11 - REFLEX SILVER - COMFORT PACK
    Engine - K&N Air Filter (e-2997)
    AV - Rockford Fosgate T1652-S , T1652 and P3L-S12 Sub. Alpine MRP-F600 and Alpine MRP-M500, Dynamat
Planned - lots, but the "financial manager" says NO

Associated components, not the whole warranty (eg: the power windows are still covered). Plenty of other threads that have asked the same question.

Our Stage 2 tune will be priced the same; accurate kw/nm has not been released yet but expect in the range of 115kW/250Nm. More testing will be required before this tune becomes available; it should be ready by around July/August.

For those who go for a Stage 1 tune now on the 77TSI, an upgrade to the Stage 2 tune will be offered at just AUD$150. Only cars with sufficient intercooler and exhaust upgrades will be permitted to upgrade to this Stage 2 tune.

    Hey John,

Really hoping to get the 77TSI tune on my Golf. Just curious to know whether there are any differences between the golf and the polo regarding the tune (slight differences in the stock ECU etc.).

Also, have you done many tunes on the 1.2L engine, I've been looking since september last year and still you appear to be the only person offering a tune for the 1.2L engine, it this because of the difficulty involved in creating an upgrade for this specific engine or because most people have only found minimal gains?

    Thanks,

    James.

    Hi James,

From an engine point of view, the Golf and Polo are the same.

I have done over a dozen of these now, all with great results; however in the last 6 months I have started encountering many late 2011 delivered/2012 models coming with an encrypted version of the Siemens SIMOS v10 ECU.

I would suspect that not many other local tuners offer a tune on this engine because they do not have the necessary tools for compatibility for non-Bosch ECUs; we focused alot of our effort on tuning this platform, and the improvements are very noticeable just as you would expect for any conservatively tuned turbo car.

Anyway, happy to do a check for you to confirm whether or not your car has an encrypted and thus currently non-upgradedable ECU, cheers.

    Thanks John,

Mine was purchases last June (pretty standard), so hopefully it won't be an issue. I'll be in touch to ascertain wether my ECU is able to be upgraded once I've got my car serviced as it's almost due for the 1 year check up.

    Thanks,

    James.

My Car(s): 2011 6R TSI Comfortline (Pepper Silver),
If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)
