    77TSI Intercooler

Bit of a long shot here, but seeing I have spare parts off my Fabia vRS and the wife has the 77TSI Monte, I am curious to know whether there is a possibility, is not, waste of time, effects etc of running a air/air intercooler inline with the std water/air cooler. It would be adding approx. 1.5 - 2m of intake length before the turbo.

Has anyone attempted such with Polo's etc?

    Cheers

Given the low amount of boost the 77TSI runs by default and to some extent even with a tune, I would say the gains would be minimal; as you also have pointed out, extra 2m of intake length would also be detrimental to the response of the engine.

My logs have only seen intake temps of about 15-20degC above ambient temps at full loads on our 100kw tune, which means the standard charge air cooling is pretty efficient/effective.

Thanks John for the info...once we have moved, the wife will be on my case about getting the tune organised for her Monte. Just another question...have any of the tests you have done been with upgraded exhaust etc as I have the original exhaust off the vRS which she would like retro fitted as well.

    Cheers

    Tune to stage one. Done

Feeling "inadequate"? Then, go get suspension, bushes, engine mount, brake pads, tyres.

Then, go work on your damping settings and your tyre pressures...

That = you will kill the average clueless Golf R driver in the twisty bits... by a long shot.

No... With the right set up, they will murder you on the straights, and then their extra 350kg's will take their toll - you will obliterate them in consecutive corners.
